Silencer on its own-around £120ish

The other major factor is the quality. I've taken budget ones to shows priced at £80 and brought them home again. The genuine VW marked exhausts are likely to be £150 or more, and are worth all of that, in longevity. Effectively they are tuned, with equal length 4 into 1.
The attached heat exchangers went to '64, but they are very rarely found now. Later had the separate heat exchangers, with small bore damper/tailpipes to '71, and then they had a bigger outlet and used the big bore one-piece damper/taipipe. Quite a lot now have the bigger bore anyway.

The one-piece tailpipe is for a big-bore (8/71 on), and worth around £35, which goes with the Leistritz big-bore silencer. I agree with Peter's valuations on that and the small bore tailpipe and damper pipe.
