Fuel shut off valves for 32 PDSIT?
Fuel shut off valves for 32 PDSIT?
Hi All,
Mine are getting on a bit, with the LHD side sometimes being faulty, anyone know of a source of these, I'm after a pair for my Square.
Cheers

I think they are the perhaps the same as for a 2 litre T25 - worth a look ??

They also act as the idle jet - I would be surprised if it's the same as 2litre Type 25, but I've no certain knowledge. Some can be at least partly dismantled - there's a screw in the end that disables the cut off mechanism in case the solenoid goes open circuit. Check the connector and wring is good - the wiring on mine had got down to a strand or two. Maybe try some carb cleaner in case it's got gummed up.

The CU engined T25 runs 32-34 PDSIT carbs as standard (after all it's just a big bore detuned type 4 engine)
I was looking around for bits for mine a few months ago and saw some on VW Heritage, which is what brought my initial reply.
Here's a link, take a look, I haven't got a type 3 so I just don't know https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/type25- ... StartRow=1

I fired up the parts catalogue and assume its part number 311 129 413 J you are looking for
If so, here's another source https://www.mecatechnic.com/en-GB/_C071563.htm
Looks similar to the T25 one, but obviously not exactly the same

The ones in the Type 3 parts book are quoted as g50; Type 4 are g55 (and are actually Beetle parts 111 129 413G).
The ones in the URL are g45 for engines up to '66, though 12V (maybe for conversions?). I don't see why it shouldn't be possible to enlarge those jets a little with care if the idle was too lean. They're not cheap though, at 60 Euros each.

Re: Fuel shut off valves for 32 PDSIT?
Dave, you certainly know your stuff, you are of course absolutely right.
Looking at the information you have provided I can now see how the information was is the electronic parts catalogue all along which lists parts from earlier models as well as the actual model year selected, I just wasn't reading it all correctly. On the other hand at least I have learnt something today.
After a bit more internet searching I have found a guy in Australia who has them listed, but quotes part numbers 058 129 413B for the type 3 and 058 129 413D for the type 4 which seems to be widely available ?? http://www.mickmotors.com.au/group_1_catalogue.html
Still, I suppose that at least there is a source for the early type 3's, (6V as well) at a price
ps, just did a look up on the 058 part number without a suffix and the E version for the T2/T25 I mentioned in the first reply seems to be a G52.5 (which I assume is the jet size)
I hope this is helpful, rather than just confusing Wayne

Re: Fuel shut off valves for 32 PDSIT?
Yes it's the jet size, so would make a bit of a difference, and as you adjust the carb mixture at idle, I suppose any difference from spec would show in running a bit leaner or richer depending on the jet size.
I don't 'know' these figures, I look them up! I guess in driving Type 3s for 50 yrs, I've 'been there, read up on that' a few times. As I get older ('matured' according to my son's recent birthday card to me!) I forget more, and the parts book and references are a great help. I've probably looked much of it up before - I like technical books, though definitely read for info rather than relaxation!

I found that Carburettor Hospital stocked the G50 12v as NOS, so bought a pair for £40 each, plus delivery.
