How many left?

Post by vweddy69 » 9th May 2016 - 10:28pm

Looking at the web site "How many left" you get a figure of 42 registered Sq Back on the toad in the UK. Does this seem correct?

There's no way to be sure, as various errors have been made in registration details, and incomplete info supplied. eg VW 1600 might be Beetles too, but Estate body should exclude those. It should be only those which are not declared SORN, but doesn't exclude those without a current MoT that are 'just resting'! It sounds about right, but recent imports are appearing all the time, swelling the numbers.

All mine are "2 axle rigid body saloons", I bet they are a lot of those...

I did some research into where all five of the remaining 412 fastbacks were. It took a bit of digging, but I seem to recall that the numbers tied up or were only 1 out.

I "think" I have the last 412LE, with one 412LS newer than mine

I am guilty of scrapping VYJ45M, a 4-door LS Fastback that I bought in Scotland. The amount of salt used on the roads there wasn't kind and it was "as rotten as an egg" underneath. It lives on in spirit in my project ... it donated the rear door frames ...
