Sold to me as a Type 2 late bay tow bar, but after repainting and offering up there's no way...the additional metalwork just puzzled me as they form a plate and bracket that appears to attach to the rear valance, but I'd never do that.
I thought Type 3 or maybe 4, but unsure.
Just one picture at the moment, as it was upside down and drying, but I'll take some others and some measurements...
Mmm... which car is this for?

Unless of course I have to drill the bumper brackets to fit...
What has thrown me is most of these tow bars use the bolts of the bumper brackets to bolt on to the rear chassis...
Aww well...Something to puzzle over!!!

Re: Mmm... which car is this for?
Its late Type 3, & Yes, the Central Bracket bolts through the rear valence. I've never quite sussed where the Triangular brackets went.
Early Type 3 would be denoted by the Bumper iron bracket sections being straight, not curved.
Out of interest, what Did You pay for it??

Re: Mmm... which car is this for?
This one was sold to me second-hand as for a type 2, and buying new is around £150.
I can't remember, I think £80, but what you say is slightly annoying as I fitted a Nordic Early Type 3 tow bar (which uses extended brackets which includes bolting onto the engine mounts as well as the bumper), to my late Type 3 which required a modification to the rear bumper...ha
I wouldn't fancy bolting through the rear valance anyway, so perhaps I got the better solution.
If anyone is interested in a repainted late type 3 tow bar for £80, let me know, £100 if I rub down and paint the last two bits, I recommend the Buyer buying a set of 6x 32mm long 17mm bolts, set of 4x 36mm long 17mm bolts, set of 6x 17mm nuts, and a set of 10x spring washers to fit. Threads for the four longer bolts on the end brackets cleaned up fine using Plus Gas.
I still have to purchase a tow bar for a late Bay.

Re: Mmm... which car is this for?
Maybe the brackets are reinforcement for the bumper mounts?
Or not part of it at all.

Mine is fitted without the Triangular brackets, as My first Towbar didn't come with any ( It came from Squirrel's Fastback in Bristol). I subsequently bought another via Volkszone, that Danny Collected for Me & That one came with all of the brackets, exactly the same as Wayne's one
