Type 3 Window Winder Mechanism
Hello all, just wanting to pick your brains about the winder mechanism. Is it the same as that on a beetle? All the sunshine's been making want the luxury of open windows!

They're quite robust, the gear stuff. If you take off the panel, it may become obvious where the problem is.
The channel on the window sometimes rusts - that is the same as a pre-64 Beetle, but they're not too thick on the ground!
I have some winders if that is the problem, but not the channels.
The felt surrounds soometimes rust and stop the glass running free. You can get those from classic car trim places - eg Woolies and East Kent Trim supplies (or similar name - E K Vintage?).
