Insurance

Post by kinga » 15th June 2017 - 4:48pm

Sorry, not really technical matter, but my Fasty ins is due and it seems to have gone up a fair bit since last tear.

i am with Heritage & they are quoting £128 this year for £10k agreed value (no breakdown).

Just wondered if people are paying this much & can anyone recommend any good companies.

Thanks.

All my classic policy's have gone up this year. That looks quite reasonable.

I'm paying £220 for a classic multi-car policy for the squareback and bus, but can't get agreed value cover due to neither of them being garaged.

My Bay single cab is insured with Footman James and I have agreed value with them even though it is parked on the street.
Generally, I'm disappointed with the so called specialist insurance companies. A couple of years back, somewhat dismayed by the renewal quote from the above, I rang around the usual suspects who advertise in the mags. Several of them wouldn't touch me (we didn't get as far as talking agreed value) either because of on street parking or the fact that it was my only vehicle. In the end I concluded it was better for me to bite the bullet and stay with the above.

In general insurance costs are rising as I believe the tax on insurance premiums itself has risen. I insured my Fastback with Adrian Flux in January with a limited 3000miles and a value of £6000, it was around £90, however, I think this is before the new increases came into action.

It's all a bit bizarre to be honest.

I have a 64 bus - the insurance for this is quite reasonable - it's with Footman James. Every year I try FJ for a quote for the fastback, and they are really expensive?

The Fastback is insured with Heritage - or at least it was until I have just swapped to Lancaster, mainly because I phoned Heritage and they did noting to try and retrain my business - didn't really seem bothered, so probably been a bit bloody minded to be honest - although I did save £20 (every penny helps). Heritage can never seemto do me a decent quote on the bus either.

been told by both insurers that they cannot do a multicar policy for the fasty & the bus??

I did have a telephone conversation with a guy at some brokers who was doing my head in and was trying to convince me that he could do a multicar policy to include my Volvo as well (modern car) and quote me a cheap price for it NOW even though the insurance isn't due for 6 months yet and I explained I can't cancel it mid-term without losing out - he was convinced he could keep the quote the same??

All sorted anyhows.

£120 with HIC.

I've since become very friendly with my local broker who insured my recently acquired 2001 Audi S3 who got me fully comp insurance with business mileage for under £500. Will be tempted to try them although with the notch, from what I understand in the uk there is like 5 actual insurance companies who insure everybody who wants a cut of your money via a broker or the bigger companies.

I've never been insured with the big names insurance companies myself.

Not at all, im the same with flux. Same miles and price. They wanted £103, got them down to £91 for the year. It's another £15 to an agreed value. For these I don't pay over £100 and I make that clear to the person on the phone when quoting. It's worked for 8 years now 😃.

It's an optional car, I don't need to drive it so unless the price is right I walk away
