Rear Subframe Diff

Post by Maccattack » 18th February 2018 - 10:01pm

Hi All,

Does anybody know any diff between rear subframes. I was told the distance between center of each shock to body bolt should be 910mm.

I have an auto irs subframe at 910mm that came off the car, a manual irs at 900mm and a swing axle at 895mm....

All frames measure up as square and true....

My swing axle frame has been converted with irs inner mounts but is narrower than the original irs auto frame between the shock towers. Frame to floorpan bolts line up perfect and frame measures square.

Does anybody know of differences in frames?

Thanks

AK

There shouldn't be any difference.
It seems a lot by todays standards, but I imagine 5 - 10mm could be build tolerance.
I have used the same IRS subframe from a late Auto Squareback on 2x 64 Swing Axle Notchbacks while they've been restored.
As far as I remember its fitted straight on both - its a fairly big hole / washer arrangement...
