Type 3 original decals

Post by broady_6 » 5th September 2018 - 3:10pm

It could be an age thing, but i have become increasingly interested in the decals which are affixed to our fine old motors. I have documented and saved what i can from my car before the resto but i haven't found anything online which contains a list of all the deals with photos and their placements. Does anyone know of anything? Making the stickers won't be an issue if i need any, i just want to know what should be where.

If no such list exists, can people photograph all of the stickers on their cars, if its not obvious mention where it is, and what year, body style and trim your car is. I will make a database and endeavour to supply the stickers to their who need any. But we will get to that.

Any help/photos appreciated.

Paint code label on rh side of spare wheel well, sometimes partly stuck over an inspection label (prufer);
BS Seat belt sticker on bonnet catch panel;
Tyre pressure table on inside of glove box lid;
Valve clearances on fanbelt access lid;
12Volt / 6Volt coil label;
12Volt red flash rh door pillar of '67-'70 ?
Air cleaner label for cleaning frequency.
Others?

I have tyre pressures and fuel RON sticker on inside of fuel filler cap. Picture to follow in about 3 days when I fill up again.

I forgot the fuel sticker. I think the tyre pressures label moved for 72 (or73?)

Great work all of you!

The only one i seem to have that hasnt been mentioned, is the pressure sticker in front of the washer bottle.

I will start to create something as my winter project, if any arent available then I can get some made up, I have just bought some nice foil decal material.

I will dig out my photos of decals ive had at one time or another

I was incorrect about only having one.

You had me wondering about the washer bottle decal though, I thought I never had one.

Another early vs late difference. Do you not have the tyre pressures on the inside of the glove box?

This is my washer bottle and sticker location. if a little hard to see for all the dirt :D

No, the tyre pressure table is by the bonnet latch plate as the pic.

On later cars the tyre pressures sticker is on the underside of the glovebox lid.
Screenwasher pressure is 56psi with a red cap for a Squareback. What is it for the Notch and Fastback? 45psi sounds about right with black cap?

Always surprises me when I see recommended tyre pressure at 17 PSI - every-time you have tyres fitted you usually get the " you sure mate - 17 is low"

Job jobbed as long as the tyre pressure stickers are the same that seems to be most of them. Still a few I can get made. I may buy that sheet and see if they have used the right materials ect.

Cheers for the link
