Its one of the prototypes from about 1960, I did see it a few years ago in the VW automuseum in Wolfsburg, I think I have some more pics of it, if I can find them Ill scan them and post on here :)

They're not the same car I don't think. The rear door on the car that Rikki posted looks like an adapted front door and check out the flat line across the top of the rear wheel arch. The Automuseum car has a curved wheelarch and neater looking rear door arrangement.

Surely that would suggest that the car Rikki posted has been built by somebody? I don't suppose many genuine prototypes would be lowered on sprintstars either? It looks like a nice job, seriously long wheelbase as well?!

No B pillar visible either, but it might be hidden. Could be a photoshop car. The quarter lights are restyled too.

I think they've more taste than that or they wouldn't be specialising in Type 3s.
