Should've taken the car this morning!

Post by kembiff » 15th November 2010 - 4:05pm

Instead, I decided to use my face as a brake when the front wheel slipped out under me on icy Gilesgate bank on my bicycle this morning.

Extreme way to get a few days off work!
Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

It didnt help that I'd decided to support the 'movember' campaign for cancer awareness (google it). It wont be much fun having the road scrubbed from my face under local anaestetic tomorrow.

Would have been far less painful to have just pulled a sicky!

Hope the anaesthetic works well tomorrow for you

You'll still be able to write reports, plan all the cover lessons and keep up with the marking then eh?!
Get well soon.

Thanks guys - really feeeling far too swell at the moment!
Cant see well enough to mark and luckily I left all that nonsense at work last week anyhow.

Top tip Kieron - if you need some time off work then get on your bike in the black ice!
I've been ebaying full face style off road helmets tonight but I wonder how tricky they would be to remove with suspected spinal?

Thanks for your kind(?) comments!

Just to let you know - I got out of hospital today having had yesterdays op cancelled due to someone elses's emergency.
My skin has never been so well scrubbed (there were even a couple of bits of Gilsgate Road in there that I need to put back now!) and sewn back together.

Now I look like this:
