Spirit of the 50's carpets

Post by ballbag » 6th June 2011 - 7:32am

Does anyone on here have one in their type 3?

I'm going to order one today as they look great. Apparently there are 3 types, a standard one for £150, a middle of the road for £200 and a more expensive one at £250+. I'll probably go for the middle if the road.

I've got loads of contact adhesive to get high on whilst installing it  :smoke:

I've got one. I'm sure it was £140 for the set, including the rear luggage area.

It fits really well, but it doesn't have outlets for the heaters, neither at the front footwells or under the back seat. You have to cut it for around the pedals too.

I'm happy with mine though :)

I bought my set from newton commercial.

All the heater outlets, seams and pedal surrounds were edged and heat sealed and the carpet is really good quality, not the catchy stuff that traps dust and stones.

I will finish it some day!!

Newton Commercial bought up the patterns Dylan Cheesley produced some years ago - his were certainly the best OE style carpets, and not all that expensive either. I only regret I never got a set for my '59 Beetle.

Mines all fitted now, I'll get some pics tomorrow for you all.

Spirit of the 50's by the way, what excellent service :) There was a misunderstanding with the handbrake boot and gearstick boot (my fault). David text me today, out of the blue saying that he had put some in the post F.O.C :)

Top marks for great service, value and turnaround time :)
