Extending life of fuel injection system & engine
A few improvements i have made since 1971 on type 3 engine to run it cooler. This lengthens life of hoses, injectors, circuit box, wiring, valves, etc greatly. Done with: scoops on air intakes, oil cooling tubing in air intakes instead of oil cooler partly blocking cylinder 3 air, & circuit box inside car. Oil temperature down to 70 to 80 C in summer from 130 C. Oil pressure as delivered to engine is 20 to 40 psi in summer. Also learned that regular fuel hose now rated 50 psi, plenty good for VW fuel injection, no wonder lasts 10x longer than some claim. Many other fixes not reported here, such as electronic ignition.
This info for general interest. If anyone has followup comments or questions, could be weeks before i look again to see if posts need reply. ,
