Type 4 CPX 4O5L

Post by glasses73 » 18th June 2013 - 4:39pm

Hi, I have joined the club today 18/06/2013 after seeing one of my old cars (CPX 4O5L). The car is a green type four square back and i am pretty sure i saw it today driving on the road. Can anybody please help me with any information of the car to make sure it was definitely the one as i was forced to sell it in extremely sad circumstances nearly 16 years ago and have regretted it to this day. It almost looks the like the green type four square back that is on the forums homepage picture although i can not be sure as the picture is not clear when zoomed in. It would make 16 years of misery and sadness worthwhile to know it was the one that i saw from a distance today and that it is still on the road.

The car is owned by Jim Bourne, our Type 3&4 Club President (at our last AGM held a couple of years or so ago). It's still on the road, as you can confirm. We are mostly an online club now, and Jim is not online much, being a late-comer to the internet.

You're right, it is in the photo on the club home page. That was our 2004 AGM at Steam Railway Museum in Swindon.

thats brilliant i sold it to him all those years ago and would love to see it up close again, i live down chichester way and was up that way yesterday picking a car up with a friend when i saw it going the other way, how amazing is that after 16 years. i had 2 t4s that one and a sedan, i also had 3 t3 squarebacks, 2 t3 fastbacks, 3 campers, and 5 beetles :) sadly these days i have more modern vdubs and dare i say is some old school fords lol. but don't worry i still have a 1970 tin top low light t2 which i don't think i will ever sell, unless a good t3 or t4 comes up for sale. anyway thanks again you really have made my day and hope to meet up with the club at a show/event one day

Well, the car is still near Lewes, so it's still not far away.

i right this with a tear rolling down my cheek, i found my first t4 also on here npx908j looking very sad :( i would give my man bits to turn back time and wish i had stayed in the aircooled world a bit more but there is light at the end of the tunnel. I still have my low light tin top 1970 t2 van from 13 yrs ago :)

I guess you must be a similar vintage to me :D . My first car was a 412 variant, my second a 412 coupe and fondly remember of disposing of one particularly unsavoury boy racer in his Escort, much to his surprise and annoyance.

I have just bought this year a particular 412 that I used to covet back in the early '80's when mine were suffering from rust and other maladies, while his was immaculate, rust free and gleaming :) . These days it needs some work but is once again a road car, after being laid up for 22 years.
