Re-chroming bumpers

Post by 937carrera » 19th August 2013 - 12:36am

My front bumper is pretty rusty on the top, and though the rear looks quite nice, it does have signs of rust below the rubber trim line.

I would say that the front in particular is well beyond the Solvol Autosol stage, so, do any of you have any recommendations for places who do re-chroming.......... and any indication of price, I have a feeling I will need to be sitting down when I hear

It cost me £500 to get 2 NOS Bumpers re plated at Cumbria Plating 4 years ago. Unfortunately they sold out to a new owner who only does industrial plating now. Have you thought about new stainless steel bumpers. I often wonder if that is what I should have bought. I think they worked out cheaper than buying NOS bumpers and having them rechromed.

for £650 you can buy new bumpers from Germany, well they are actually used/re-chromed but the quality is great!

I'm glad I was sat down :!:

Marko, do you have a link for the German ones. Did you buy some ?

Delighted to hear of other potential sources and feedback, good or bad
