After 15 year wait.... my fasty will be tax free 1st April !

Post by Angelo Amato » 9th February 2014 - 11:50pm

Right, as I missed out on tax exemption as my 21/1/73 built car was 21 days too new :crybaby:

It is now my time !! :) :) :)

Question ...... how do I apply for my first tax exempt tax disc ?

I have heard I need to send of docs to VRO, etc...... ???

Cheers,

Angelo

Only if the Chancellor announces the change in bands and rates for VED, AND writes to inform the DVLA that he's done so.

I'm assuming its UK Registered in 1973, in which case, all you do is apply for change of taxation class to Historic Vehicle, although some people have indicated the process is automatic.

Just wait for the announcement first, then start champing at the bit.

I'm in the same boat as you & Wireless, except he's much better organised already :).

I'll probably get mine taxed from April or May, depending on what other things are going on in my life. I wouldn't stop the car tax getting the car on the road if it's ready

Me better organised? Ha

Ok I got my '74 model 412 accepted as manufactured in 1973 by the DVLA (its not on the V5, but I have the letter from the DVLA), but everything is on hold until the Chancellor announces that he is keeping his intention within the 2013 Budget, he doesn't have to, but the backlash will be something I think he'd rather avoid. He has to instruct the VED bands and rates changes to the DVLA, which he hasn't so far done. He has to do that every year anyway, and it doesn't require new legislation, its one of his powers.

The announcement will likely be in the 2014 Budget.
