Heated Front Windscreens for Type 3’s
Heated Front Windscreens for Type 3’s.
No more misty front Windscreens!
I have discovered a company that can make the above for Type 3s.
Putting feelers out to see who might be interested.
The screens are laminated and the heating matrix is virtualy invisible to the driver.
The minimum order is ten so the club would need at least ten people prepared to put down a deposit. The cost is about £165, dropping to £145 for 20.
Price drops the more ordered.
This would be a Non-Profit enterprise, we would sell the screens at cost Price.
I think is is favourable to the current cost of a new standard windscreen
which is well over £100 by now.
The only downside is a four month turnaround from order to delivery. So it would be a case of being prepared to put down a deposit and wait around this long for delivery. The Type 3 & 4 club are prepared to act as “Honest Broker" and hold onto the deposits until we have enough people to place an order.
The claim is they can demist in 20 seconds and stay demisted. Having a similar one already fitted to our Beetle I can vouch for the times being pretty accurate in "the real world". Although the Bug screen is smaller I doubt there would be significant difference. The one on our Beetle has melted solid ice in about 3 minutes! Its the best safety improvement I’ve ever made and hardly notices as far as "originality" is concerned.
In the first instant I’m seeing what the interest is.
Dave can you put up a Poll??

A switch to dash (or wherever you want) via a relay. Very simple wiring, any decent VW mechanic who is happy with R&R of a windscreen without breaking it should be able to do it. I got the Heated Windscreen in our Beetle fitted by Luke at Terrys Beetles so I can recomend him.
First we need enough interest to order "em

Sorry not been on here much recently
It would either be from the manufacturer in Tamworth, Staffs, or from someone in the club with enough space, willing to store them till members could collect
Sorry cant be more precise but until its beyond speculation stage and we have enough interest its hard to organize
