Window Rubbers advice
The Window Rubbers on my 73 Variant are shot and will need replacing very soon. Any comments on the best quality (re fit and longevity) around at the moment> I want to retain the chrome strips so not Cal Look rubbers.

Marko used a set and rates them. I've got ISP West ones (which from what I gather are the saame), which seem decent, they've been on mine 3 months so far.

OK good start
Re: Window Rubbers advice
Alex from ISP West is here at the USA Type 3 meeting, having driven from Los Angeles to Fairport NY. He's a very knowledgeable and friendly guy, and yes he deals with Simon Kelley. It's good to meet up and chew the 'cud'. Fun to sit in on some laps at Watkins Glen as well, with Isaac from Canada in his Notchback!

Simon Kelly not currently selling window or door rubbers on his Ebay shop. Have emailed him but no reply as yet.
Anyone tried the Type 3 Window rubbers Custom and Commercial are currently selling?

Re: Window Rubbers advice
Simon supplies them! he doesn't like posting them out as it's hassle for returns or something like that, he did tell me. I emailed him through eBay and we met up at a show, £50 for 2 screen seals and the quality is great!Stuart Sepple wrote:Anyone tried the Type 3 Window rubbers Custom and Commercial are currently selling?

Cant get hold of Simon Kelly at the moment, he hasn't replied to my Ebay email. The other option seems to be Custom & Commercial, anyone any opinions on the quality of their rubbers?

Re: Window Rubbers advice
ISP West may be knowledgeable guys, but they don't realise that European model 1973 Squarebacks are twin carb, I asked about a carb kit and was told my car was fuel injected...

Re: Window Rubbers advice
The USA stopped Twin Carb Type 3's a lot earlier than Europe
Re: Window Rubbers advice
Always good practice with USA suppliers to give them more details than you'd expect them to need. All their models had higher spec trim like waist trim, polished quarter lights (vent-wings), sealed beam headlights, cooling fans in the airbox and other desirables, and later ones had high-backs, FI from '68 etc. Ordering the right interior items can be tricky. They're probably quite used to US folk asking for stuff that doesn't fit their car - good that they do a lot of stuff for Type 3s still.

Got my new one from Heritage. Genuine VW part 311 845 121
Also Available from Ge Ma Classics I think but not in their ebay shop at the moment.
It`s the Driver Side bit of the metal insert I`m need for mine.
