4 stud to 5/130 brake drums on a 1968 Squareback

Post by SB Jim » 20th September 2014 - 7:56am

Hi,

I am looking to change my 4/130 wheels to Fuch 5/130, I have sourced the front discs, but I am struggling to sort out the back. Can the existing drums be re-drilled safely or can I get blanks and get my mate to machine them, or does someone do them off the shelf.

Cheers Jim

Hi Bri,

Thanks for that, but I don't think the adapters would fit as I only have about a 5mm gap in between the tyre and wing lip now.
I am just waiting for Karmann Konnection to come back to me with a price to re-drill.

Cheers

Just take off the drums and go to a local machine shop, they should be able to tackle it no problem.

Shouldn't cost much either. It's been a few years since I've done so, but was not a problem. Straightforward machining stuff.

Use press in studs with a shoulder and not threaded ones as there's not much meat in the areas where the new holes will be. You'll obviouslly need the studs first so the machine shop can size the holes accordingly.
