Post by FASTY72 » 23rd April 2015 - 1:37pm

Hi want to replace leads on the Fastback. Not sure what sort I need as the engine is a 1776 with twin Dellortos. Any advice on what is best would be great and where to get them. cheers....

As long as the distributor and spark plugs are in the same place, then nothing has changed.

I make up HT lead kits (6mm Silicone lead - proper crimped ends). I make them to order so I can do custom lengths if you want them.

I also have a few new Bosch sets if you prefer a "name" brand.

The ones I make are £30 + post with straight distributor ends or £33 for angled (009, Injection or any other tall distributor) - I'll include custom lengths in those prices.

The Bosch leads are new and boxed, they have angled distributor connectors. I bought them before I got the kit to make them myself. The best I can do on them is £37 a set + post.

The Best... Well quality wise I think mine are as good as the Bosch.
They are all black so look a bit more "stock", where the Bosch leads are grey with black ends
If you looking for the angled ends then I'd say the bosch will give you a bit more clearance as the only connectors I can source are still quite tall.

Second class post on any of those is £2.80, or I can take to Stanford Hall.

I hope thats ok.

Fasty 72, I have a set of Mike's leads and they are fantastic, right length. I can recommend and will go back for another set when required.

All the best

I also bought a set from Mike too, the one lead is 36", you just can't get a shop bought set that will fit, never had a problem with the set I had from Mike, and will eventually buy again from him.

Just asking Mike, do you do a set for the Type 4 Engine?

Thanks.
I have looked at doing Type 4 sets, but I can't find the extra long plug caps anywhere.
They are easier to get anyway as they're used on 1.7 - 2.0 Type 2's.
Stateside tuning sell a nice set, at a good price too!
