fuel tank

Post by howlingmadmurdoch » 26th December 2016 - 3:33pm

Hi i have a late square 1970 which is a complete resto project. it came with a great condition early tank (no rot at all) am i able to use this? as obviously the front end panels are different on the late or have you any idea of a ruff price that i should put it up for to try and buy a solid late tank (carb car)

thanks for any advice

i used an early tank in my 1970 car. I did this mainly due to preferring not to have a filler flap on the outside and all the pipe work (rust traps). Works well but you need to lift the bonnet at fuel stations :-)

Couple of pics - not the best unfortunately but it does fit the hole.
I did actually cut the filler to clear the front bulkhead rather than make a hole in bulkhead - if you look at a picture of an early car you will see how it routes originally - works for me :-)

Perfect thanks. It looks great. I was curious because mine touches on that front bulk head area. I will do the same as you. Many thanks
