MOT Failed.
MOT Failed.
So my 1970 SQ BK (LHD USA Import) hàs failed on the side light colour. How has anyone else got round this? Not got the full sheet back, a rear CV joint also had to be replaced and they tell me a beetle unit is the same fit.

Re: MOT Failed.
Shame.
I assume you now have RHD headlights, or the dipped beams will be wrong. There should be a white side-light in there.
As mentioned, if you have a side-light in the side of the front indicator housing, you can just remove that bulb. USA required the side-lights to be visible from the side (!).
If the tail-light lenses have red flashers, you may need to change the lenses to amber flasher ones for the MoT. Check the sheet when you get it back.

Re: MOT Failed.
Still have the USA headlights, which don't have a hole for a side light. My side lights were inside the indicators. Now have two LED lights mounted below the bumper. Passed the mot but looks wrong. Apparently if i get euro headlights they will take a a side bulb. I changed the rear lenses as they were falling apart so have UK lenses on.

Re: MOT Failed.
I can't see how the tester didn't notice the dipped beam being the wrong way. Did you blank out the segments on the lenses with black tape, the way we have to when going onto the continent with RHD lights?
Dave.
