Hi there,
Ive been having issues with the oil pressure switch leaking since I've owned my 67 square back and was wandering where I'm going wrong!?
I purchased a new one from M7 and that leaked too!!?
so brought a new one from VW heritage and now there is a constant green light on the dash?!? (See pics and part number I purchased).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
Adam.
Old switch (brought last month) Leaked!!?:
New one from Heritage has brought this light on perminantly:
Part number of new one: 068-919-081.
New one isn't leaking but now this green light is baffling me!?
Oil pressure switch leaking, now light has come on....!?

Where were the other switches leaking from; the threads, or the switch itself.
There is always the possibility that the new switch just bought is faulty, or has a different pressure setting

Thanks for replying,
It appeared that the leak was coming from the top of the switch (Not the thread) but where the spade is.
This was the issue with the switch before also, which is why I originally replaced it.
The new switch is rated higher, I ordered this one because it had a higher pressure rating to counter act the issue, as it said it was suitable.
Details of the switch below.

Re: Oil pressure switch leaking, now light has come on....!?
The pressure rating of the switch is the point at which it switches the light off, and no indication of how "heavy duty" it is.
Now the engine has to make at least 1.4 bar before the light goes off, which it might struggle to do on tick over, especially if it's a bit worn.
I would replace it with the correct 0.3bar switch see what happens then.

Hope that sorts it for you Adam.
My only concern is that you bought one from Machine 7 before and that was faulty. By all means try another, especially if they are only £3, but if there are better quality ones out there, then I would prefer to pay a bit more.
