Engine bogging when warm

Post by Kraftwerk » 29th March 2017 - 4:35pm

Hi! I've got a type34 razor edge Ghia, 1500s. I'm having a major problem with it bogging down when it's warmed up. If I lightly feather the accelerator, it will speed up no problem, but if I plant my foot it bogs, and won't rev above 2000 revs and keeps faultering. Carbs have been thoroughly overhauled whilst trying to clear the fault up! New fuel lines, pump, tank has been cleaned out, new balance pipe connectors... I'm just at the end of my knowledge! Anyone had this problem??

I would suspect an air leak on the inlet manifolds, but double check that Your balance pipe ends are nice & tight.
Also check that You have functioning cut off valves on each carb

You seem to have focussed on the fuelling side. Do you know what CO readings you get at tickover and at the higher RPM.

Does the engine run cleanly at higher revs when stationary:- in other words does load on the engine affect the misfire.

Are you sure that points, plugs, leads & other ignition components are in good condition / correctly adjusted ?

Check you are getting a strong jet of fuel down each carb throat when you open the throttle. You can do this with the air cleaner removed and engine off. If you are not get this you still have a partial blockage.
