floorpan replacement help

Hi, I'm at the point where I'm ready to replace the floorpans on my 69 fastrack.

I've cut the old floor pans out to the lip by the tunnel. I expected to see similar to a beetle where the pans are welded to a lip on the centre spine and this needs to be unpicked. When I look under I can't see where the pans end and the centre spine section starts its as if it's all one piece.

How do I weld the new pans in? On top of the lip that your see next to the spine?

Yes, the make up of the floor pan is different to type 1 as originally it was a single pressing.
Presuming you have Klassic Fabs pans, its usual to do as you've done and either but weld to the lip or over lap one way, depending on what you want to see from below. I didn't fit mine, but I think the panels are wide enough to joggle the inner edge, overlap at the top and then weld from below.
I have some pictures of mine going in, I'm not sure if they show exactly what I mean, but I'll dig them out.

I'm not sure if you see anything on these.
Bughaus restorations in Nottingham (01159589265) did the work. It was 7 years ago though.
