My mechanic won't fit my heater, says its a potential bomb that could go off, does anyone know of someone that could get mine working properly, so I can show any mechanic that its working safely on a bench, so they agree to fit it?
I realise that the engine and gearbox might have to be removed again to fit it, but what can I do, it was holding up the whole job and I needed the car back.
I'm disabled so my days of getting under cars are in the past.

Re: Auxiliary Heater
The problem is that the safety systems (fuses) are in the car, so difficult to bench test with safety in place. They aren't that complicated, fuel pump, spark plug, coil, temperature sensor and a couple of fans.
I have a 25 page series of images for the BA4 heater, including fault diagnosis and wiring diagrams, if that's of any help.
Funny, I know a few mechanics who just don't like doing electrics, maybe your mechanic has a fear around these. Biggest chance of it becoming a potential bomb is if the fuel line leaks, no different to the engine.
My recollection of the heater in my first 412 was that the 16A overheat fuse was always blowing. I used to carry a stock around
As an idea, do you have an LPG installer near you

If anyone else wants it, just comment & I'll mail it to your registered email address!
I've also got service book F, Fresh air circulation, Heating & Air con, But it's big & bulky so not scanned in. I'm happy to let anyone peruse it at a show though

There's an online manual for the heater at Type4.org here: https://www.type4.org/manuals/ba4/index.html
