Low ethanol petrol

Post by shauncwalsh » 18th May 2018 - 3:27pm

Just had to replace some of the fuel hoses on my '71 fastback. Only 18 months old and the ethanol in modern fuel has made them split
Does anyone know which brand/grade of petrol has the lowest ethanol content?

All pump fuel has ethanol in it, mandated by law. Tesco Momentum has I believe the highest. You can get ethanol free fuel, but it's about £4 / litre and you can't get it from a pump.

Yeah, and the bio ethanol content is only going to increase. The answer is fit sae j30 r6 fuel hose and change it every year as part of the annual service. its been common issue for about 10 years now

Not sure about replacing it every year - if the fuel hose is the right product, then it should take E85 or E100 and not need replacement.

Brickwerks only sell top notch products - here's their advice https://www.brickwerks.co.uk/brickwerks ... ssurances/ Type 2's have a propensity to combust, this is their market.

I bought Febi hose 5 years ago with no specification, because I know Febi is good stuff. Alternatively buy to spec from a respected supplier.
