Type 3 Fastback Bumpers

Post by Park83 » 9th August 2018 - 5:49pm

Hi Guys,

I am currently starting a new project on my 1972 Type 3 fast back. I am completely refurbishing it, with a few new additions, engine, respray, wheels, interior etc.

My first question is can I fit the bumpers from a 63-69 model onto my 70-73 model without amending the bumpers?

I hope you guys can help and look forward to hearing from you.

Hello, welcome to the club. If you are doing a resto please start a thread in the projects section as im sure we would all like to see your work and car!

Yeah the bumps go on, you need the early bumper brackets from what I know. But otherwise theyre a straight fit

My ‘73 has got early bumpers fitted on it. And yes, I had to use the early bumper brackets. I couldn’t get any others (beetle, split screen, bay window) brackets to work so I had to wait and find some early ones.

Not sure if Danny Lord has picked any up recently?

Hi Guys, I found the bumpers in stainless Steel. There were not cheap. However no brackets. I am now on the hunt for the type 3 early bumper brackets. If anyone has a drawing of them I could probably fabricate myself.

Cheers

I think a drawing would be lucky. You might be as well to post a wanted ad to see if someone will loan you a set. I would but my spare ones are late car :(
