VDO oil pressure sender
VDO oil pressure sender
Just ready to fit the new "worry gauges" to the square.
Removed the existing oil pressure switch and the new VDO sender unit won't screw into the block because the sender case is too big and hits the oil cooler mount.
Any suggestions/remedies?
TIA

Re: VDO oil pressure sender
Do you run the hatch in the boot? If you don't the sender will screw straight into the oil cooler.
Alternatively reroute your fuel hose, then turn the adapter on top of the oil cooler 90 degrees clockwise and it may just give you enough clearance to fit

Re: VDO oil pressure sender
You can buy remote mount pipes. It’s just a braided bit of hose with the right connectors.
Is that switch for oil pressure/temperature? Are you going to retain you original pressure switch?

Re: VDO oil pressure sender
To me that looks like a pressure sender which will give the warning light and an instrument read out from the 1 unit.

Re: VDO oil pressure sender
Didn’t realise they made them. I’ve got one that does oil temperature and pressure.
Re: VDO oil pressure sender
Can you not rotate the adaptor 180 degrees?
Remove the adaptor and go straight in?
Fit your new switch in the place the type 1 pressure switch is located? Not sure you can do this. It’s been a while since I’ve had an air cooled motor.

Echo haha
Re: VDO oil pressure sender
Didn't realise the switch adaptor actually moved, if so I can turn it 90 degrees.
The fuel line's going, there's an electric pump being fitted under the tank.
It's a twin post sender so I can run a pressure gauge and retain the stock oil light.
Oil temp sender is going into the return oil line from the remote cooler.
Re: VDO oil pressure sender
Yeah thats a just a banjo bolt through a machine block of metal with a copper washer top and bottom. slacken the bolt off half a turn and you can turn the block any which way.
