Has anyone ever used Morris SAE50 oil in there engines before or is it too thick and am asking for oil cooler seal issues ?

Millers make good oils, but you shouldn't be using single grade, 20W50 or 15W50 should be fine.

50 grade oil is too heavy, modern multigrade oils are far better for your engine than any single weight oil.
I use 15W40 in all my air-cooled cars, and anything with a high zinc level to protect the cam and valvetrain.
We don't run catalytic converters so there isn't an issue with the zinc content.

Coooor a can if worm! These days the W stands for winter rather than the old skool weight. But ill third both of you 20W50 15W40 15W50 are all good mineral or semi synthetic, Higher ZDDP are good as sparkywig says over about 1300ppm there is not addition benefit as it has reached saturation point. Millers and mobil do products which include high ZDDP. There is also classicoils which offer their own brand, I have used it in a number of engines for about 4 years now with no ill effects.

Volkswagen used to recommend SAE30 for normal conditions and SAE20 for winter (approx. meaning weather normally below freezing). I agree with what others have said about multigrades though.

That was when multigrades were in their infancy, VW recommended using multigrade oils from 1975.

I've just been through the same discussion over on the T25 forum :) looking at oil pressure at different temperatures and oils. I did a lot of measuring.

I looked in my type 4 handbook for the 412LS and was surprised to see that in there they were still recommending single grade oil. I thought that the move to multigrades had already happened by 1974.

Here's a link to the T25 owners manual, page 86 has the recommended oil grades according to temperature. Don't forget, the early 2.0 T25s were just big type 4 engines, very little difference until they started adding water.

Ignore the references to oil spec - that's completely different to oil grade / viscosity and they have all been superseeded many times.

I'm preferring 15W50 or 20W50, others stick with the 15W40 that was originally recommended for the T25, but then those recommendations were for "new" engines, not for engines with 100,000 plus miles on them.

My "recon" T25 engine with 43,000 miles on it needs the 50 grade to get decent pressures when it's hot outside.
