Rear Brake Drums Type 34

Post by gracie » 28th August 2018 - 10:43pm

My old drums on my '67 T34 were out of shape and having been previously machined it was off to source some new ones. No problem on these later ones part number 311-501-615 from Heritage. However, once delivered, it seems they are not the right size, less deep than the originals, the bigger issue is that the centre hole is approx 1mm too narrow. As a result, they won't seat/fit correctly without machining. Has anyone any similar experience and advice on another supplier who has the correct fitting part? My concern is that every VW parts specialist could be using the same supplier!

All thoughts welcome
Many thanks
Graham

Hi Sparywig, thank you - sadly Mario didn't have any available and werk34 appear to have either the Brazilian ones used by Heritage or Empi ones, of which I have received indifferent reports. In the end, I've gone expensive and opted for CSP parts from Germany. They are costly but highly recommended and with brakes that is what I want to hear! I'll update the site on how good they are (or not) when they arrive and get fitted

Best Wishes
Graham
