end float

Post by greenfyregirl » 21st October 2018 - 2:03pm

Hello
again!!!
We have just torqued the flywheel up on my engine and ive got zero end float.
We had previously checked it twice and had a tolerance of 0.10/9. middle of ok.
we have got the fan /generator etc installed- is there anything else other than shims that could be wrong- before we reshim????
thanks

Just to follow up from the PM you sent me and to help any on in future.

"Du think its the 110 cam/ fatter oil pump/ wonky fan situation??? could still be too wonky and is stopping the end float??"

My reply

"Hello,

If you haven't got the fan housing flush then the fan will hit the housing when you do up the fly wheel bolt. This will be bending the fan, so id be very careful and make sure the fan housing issue is sorted before you try to go any further in the build.

I hope this helps"

we took the fan off and all the housing and the endfloat didn't get free until the last bit came off!
This is all because i changed the cam and oil pump.
So we shaved more off the fan housing and bolts. It seems to be flat now and end float is back!
Im glad it happened- the engine is turning much easier now- could of been a disaster!
Thanks!!!
