Regulator
Regulator
Despite trawling through over 600 pics of my resto, I am unable to locate my pic of the original
location, and wiring setup of my regulator.
And as i think of electrics somewhat similar to Einsteins view of the quantum field as quote
"Weird spooky science" I must ask your good selves for a pic of the regulator set up,
or location of a pic if you know of one.
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Regulator
Under the back seat on left hand side, where you should find a tangle of wires coming out of the heater channel
Find Your diagram here: https://www.thesamba.com/vw/archives/info/wiringt3.php

Re: Regulator
I know where it is, but I just wanted to double check whether it was originally surface mounted
on the top of the heater channel, or vertically mounted, or does it really matter?
Wiring diagram is brilliant, thanks. Off to print it on A3 .
Thanks.

Re: Regulator
I don't think I could say for certain, now you mention it!
It may depend on how far your wires will reach- I suspect you'll find the hole once its wired in
There was a funny bit of card/millboard used as an insulator underneath it
(those colour diagrams are also in the Bentley Manual)

Re: Regulator
Its handier for me to have an A3 pic that I dont mind grubby paws on.
I dont want to mess up the manual.
I read somewhere that there was an insulative material all right.
IIRC I think my original sat on the end of the heater channel.

Re: Regulator
One more quick question.
When the harness reaches the A post pillar, does it run further along the floor pan
and then rise up to the dash. Or does it rise at the A post then run along the box
section under the dash.
Its been so long I cant recall, and the pics are mis placed.
I do recall at the A post, everything was conveniently hidden behind a grotty
lump of carpet, along with about 40 years of rot.

Re: Regulator
Well that's mad because mine stated playing up yesterday. Generator red light on. Good voltage from generator, so concluded it's probably the regulator.
So I took a photo of it about 2 hours ago.
