Type 3 twin carb air filter set up

Post by broady_6 » 23rd December 2018 - 5:05pm

Me again,

So i need to set up the warm air intake on the air filter. The bentley manual doesnt cover this as thats for the FI engine. I have had a look all over this site and the samba, along with a good googling too and come up short. I assume you adjust the tension on the spring here.

Until the flap in the intake end is at a certain gap when its all cold. Does anyone have the procedure for setting this up?

According to the Haynes manual.
See 3 and 4.
Forgive the quality.

Cheers, thats a good starting point, i assume theres no mention of how to set it up if you have to change the thermostat? I guess its no that critical. Maybe just needs to be fully open when the thermostat is a full extension?

Would assume that its fully closed, and only opens when the temp hits 45c.
It appears to me its either closed or opened, and nothing else.

No other mention of this at all in the manual that I have come across.
