Is a 1975 Porsche 911 starter motor compatible with my 1970 T3 Auto Squareback
Just asking as the starters look very similar and could get my Squareback back on the road quicker

They are quite a rare item - I had mine rebuilt. You may also want to look at hi torque starters for performance bugs - they will have similar output required to start an auto -

I know it’s seeming very hard to find mate, how much did you pay to have yours rebuilt? What kind of time did it take to have the work done?

Was a while ago - it was around 45.00 ad I painted it afterwards - (I think) the auto starter is rated at .8 hp opposed to .6hp for regular manual gearboxes - its body is longer. If you can find an electrical place locally that rebuilds starter motors, generators and alternators - they should be able to dissemble and source the service parts for you

Where are you based? I know a place in Lincoln which ive used a time or two before, fair prices and good work. He also deals via the post so you dont need to even visit the place. I had an porsche/vw alternator overhauled there a few years back and it was around £80 including postage.

GSF part number 901VG0090 and use code GSF60 at the check out to get it for £150 and then get a further £30 refund when you return your old one, so £120 for a brand new item doesnt seen bad

Theres an auto gearbox on ebay at the mo- supposedly removed from a working car, so might be worth a message to the seller?
