Wiring in a hazard warning switch
Sonic would like to wire in a hazard warning switch into my 1968 notchback I have zero clue where to start, I do have what I believe to be the correct switch so my question is.... Where do I go next any help and advice would be appreciated as really don't know what to do I just really want hazards after the last time the notch decided not to work!
Re: Wiring in a hazard warning switch
If you have the correct switch, surely it just a case of mounting in the dash and connecting the wires up as per the wiring diagram?
This diagram should show everything you need, pin numbers and colours ect.

Re: Wiring in a hazard warning switch
That's all great but it's never had a hazard switch fitted before so where do I start, I am no car electrician and don't want to trash what's there already!
Re: Wiring in a hazard warning switch
Since you've owned it? Or ever? Id expect it did have originally. So hopefully all the wiring is there behind the dash.
Whats the part number on the switch you've got?
If youre starting from scratch, the first thing to do is work out where on the dash youre going to fit is, as this will determine the lengths of all the wiring.
You can see the standard position for later cars here.

It has never had one... My notch is a '68 so the layout is a little different and I would have to drill a hole between the ashtray and clock.
The switch I has a part number of 111953235F seven pin unit

Local motor factors / car accessory shop will likely be best, but you will only get a variety of colours, not necessarily the right ones. or ebay

Re: Wiring in a hazard warning switch
Ive got some old loom off cuts, its depends which you need and how long?
Id guess Black/Green
Black/White
Black/Whitegreen as a minimum
It'll depend what wiring you already have. I suspect you car could be a 67 model though?

Yes that would be perfect.... My notch is a 12v '68 and the wire colours you have listed above are what my workshop manual wiring diagram lists also, 0.5mm Brown, 2.5mm red 2.5mm white and 1.5mm blue, if you have those cuts spare too that would be awesome!
Many thanks.

I'll have a root around this week, what lengths do you require?

Awesome that would would be superb man thanks!
Don't really know on the lengths to be 100% honest man, I plan on mounting the hazard switch between the ashtray and the clock..... So as much of each colour as you can spare would be perfect as I don't know exactly the lengths plus possible mistakes if I make them!
