MAP sensors

Post by richtbiscuits » 18th June 2019 - 7:22pm

I pulled three MAP sensors out of my parts store on Sunday. I always supposed there was only one type but on inspection they all have different part numbers: vw 022 906 051, 022 906 051 E and 311 906 051 C (the Bosch numbers are 0 280 100 003, 0 280 100 049 and 0 280 100 007 respectively). One is clearly a type 3 unit the other two I suppose are for type 4 engines. Could anyone tell me if these parts are all interchangeable and which vehicles they were originally from. Thanks.

After some interweb searching I found lots of info on the old timers website which gives make and models for the sensors. There's also a very useful video which shows how to test the sensor which I did. Turns out all the sensors are good. I switched one for the one on my car then tested it and found it held no vac - torn diaphragm - which might explain the 17 mpg and rich running!

Good to hear, sorry I couldn't provide an answer for you immediately.

Can you give a link to the useful website ?

Search https://oldtimer.tips (sorry, not sure how to create a link). Loads about D-jetronic and K-jetronic systems.

Seems links create themselves when you press submit. Learn something new every day, eh.

here's a link

https://oldtimer.tips/en/

You create it by clicking on the chain (second icon from the right above) and putting the address between the brackets or by putting the url with at the beginning and at the end....... but lose the space I had to insert after the l in each bit of code to get it to display in this post

I hadn't come across this website before
