Brake advice

Post by Pdjordy » 4th October 2019 - 6:47am

Looking at rebuilding my brakes on fastback as has been sitting for years. Any advice on what to replace with or where to buy good quality parts from will be appreciated. It's a 72fasty.

Thanks in advance
Paul

VWH will supply meyley hoses, they also do rear wheel cylinder kits, as far as i know master cylinder seal kits are no long available. And I'll send you an Ebay link to caliper kits when I'm at my PC shortly.

For the correct hoses refer to this: http://www.vwtype3and4club.org.uk/partswap.php

Heritage sell rear drums, but they are crap when compared to originals- I got new ones from Paruzzi, but they no longer have in stock https://www.paruzzi.com/uk/type-3/rear- ... rum/31282/ those are a different brand to what I bought, so I'd suggest you compare with heritage

Discs- assuming you've got the late ones Porsche 914- measure your caliper mounting bolt spacing- if it's 52mm ish, then you're in luck- beetle discs will fit (GSF/Machine7 etc) if its 70 mm ish then you have the later disc & caliper (Porsche 914/vw 411/412)

If late, then volvo 240 pads & fitting kit will fit, otherwise you're on beetle pads etc

If you get stuck, give us a yell!
