Picking up dirt from somewhere?
Is your overflow/filler vent hose letting muck in? They crack and let muck in from the road.
Dave.

Hi Squarey!

A couple of weeks ago, I had very similar symptoms. Black exhaust. Struggling to idle, but ok at speed. Also difficult to restart after a couple of minutes of being shut down.

I had a nosey down the carbs and saw fuel dripping in. I checked the fuel pressure and it was about 6psi - should be about half that. I tried adding extra gaskets as per the manual to reduce the pressure. I added 3 or 4 and had only slightly reduced fuel pressure. So I popped another pump on. All fine now :)

With your very high CO, black exhaust etc - this might be worth checking? I think you've changed just about everything else anyway!

Good luck with it!
