Lifting Squareback?

Post by the Death Twinkie » 18th September 2007 - 4:02am

I have my 69 square that was already somewhat modified for off-road use, (large tires, cut inner fenders, & about a 2 inch raise with new rancho shocks) I was wondering how I could raise it any more without heavily modifying the suspension.

someone has also suggested that I fit the front end of a type 2 on to give some additional clearance.

thanks!

ALSO, unrelated, is there any noticeable advantage of using J-tubes over normal heat exchangers?

After you've ground the rear spring plate stops away to get more rear travel the next limiting factor will be the CV joint. Treker (Thing) cv's have increased angularity and are a straight swap.

Fitting a type 2 front axle would be almost impossibe (and that is in the context that nothing is impossible!) I suggest looking down the path of raised spindles, as that way retains standard suspension and steering arm angles.
