Leaking windscreens

Post by callum » 19th October 2007 - 10:56am

Just to mention that after changing front windscreen rubber, and clearing drain channels, and still having water find its way into the car,I changed the windscreen wiper shaft to body seal, part number 311955261A,for less than a pound each, and miraculously the water stopped coming in,so maybe it is worth checking before taking on the expense of a new windsreen rubber......

very good stuff. the screen on my square was leaking bad and this stuff stop it.
take off the seal if you can. clean and refit dry then use tolleys cure around the seal in side and out.

Take care if you have a laminated screen - they can easily crack during removal or refit. Look at the reflections from the windscreen at a low angle - should be able to see some patterns on it if it is toughened (tempered) glass and safe to thump about!
