I have no idea what oil was used in them or how much and from all the reading I did last year on the pros and cons of rebuilding exisiting struts or sourcing NOS struts I made the decision to switch to Audi 80 inserts.

From what I can gather there are numerous rubber seals inside the 411/412 inserts that perish with age and are hard to duplicate. I'm not sure if any of the specialist firms could, or would, rebuild them or how much it would set you back.

If needed let me know and I'll e-mail you everything I have done to the front end of mine and you can make up your mind with some more info.
