Main beam gone (412ls)

Post by 3nero » 8th May 2009 - 12:10am

the main beam on my headlights stopped working on my 412LS

the relay still clicks and the blue light comes on on the clock but the headlights do nothing. I checked all the wires, fuses and replaced the bulbs but still nothing. has anyone got a clue where i should check next :?

I assume you have checked the earths? If they are OK what about power coming from the relay, does it reach the fuses and is the relay getting power and a good earth?

Failing that say sod it and rewire the lights along this kind of thing

May seem a lot of faffing but well worth it to eliminate voltage drop and increase the brightness of the lights, well it was on mine :D

Thanks for that.
I finally traced the problem to some dodgey connector blocks hidden way up in the dash. they where household connectors and one of the small screws has fallen out

having read that wiring article i'm no thinking of rewireing my lights 8)

It is well worth the time. It improved mine a great deal, but then I also replaced the outer pair of lights with new H4 units at the same time as the old refelctors were a tad dull.
