replacing a wiring loom when replacing an outer sill - tips?

Post by topnotch » 7th April 2006 - 3:51pm

Has anyone fitted an outer sill on a type 3 on the side with the wiring loom?

I`m doing this soon and have just realised that the wiring loom runs through it!

obviously, i want to remove it for welding the new one in and this is easy , i`ll just cut the old sill off. But how have people refitted the loom!?

thanks,
mike

I didnt know this - my Late Type 3 Squareback is going in to have the pasenger sill replaced next week wonder if this is going to complicate matters? Where does it run? Does it just lie between the inner strenghther and outer sills???

i looked in my bently when i did this and form august 65 onwards , the harness is routed through a groove in the left side memeber and not a tube.

i shouldn`t think it`ll complicate things anyway, i just had to be careful when welding near it!

Late Type 3s have it under a metal capping below the carpet - probably lift it up no probs.
