T3 temp gauge false readings or over heat???

Post by Munchh » 24th April 2006 - 10:15pm

I have a T3 caravelle, 1600 diesel, its has been converted from a 2.0l petrol.

When it sits idleing, the temp gauge does not register, but when revving the engine it registers overheat with red warning light on??

I only got to drive it up a track so am unsure what it regiters when driving, but i am picking it up this weekend and would like to know if AA membership might be handy?

Is this something anyone has come across before, i have bought a new thermostat, is there anthing else it is likely to be?

Any pointers would be appreciated,

thanks for your time,

Worried new owner.
My bro has a T3 and i've got a P.C.

i think you might have the forum i`m afraid mate - this is for type 3 and type 4 `s from the 60`s and 70`s.

On another note, i think an AA membership is always handy to have, especially if you`re unsure of how a vehicle is running.

cheers,
mike
