What do you call the fasteners that slide over the front wing holes, so that the screws engage on fitting front wings? also where can you buy them??

Answer is they are called both speed and spire nuts. Probably depends where they are being bought. VW parts book calls them speed nuts. Probably UK markets says Spire nuts - maybe the original UK manufacturer called them that - like the 'Mole' grips that were developed and made in the UK by MK Mole & Son.

I used to sell all the fixing kits but my supplier of fixings has gone AWOL but I have a bag full if the rubber washers that I had manufactured to the original size. Let me know how many you need and I can give you a price?

Shame I did not see this post when you first posted it as was in barnstaple last month on holiday!

Washersdirect is the seller name on ebay. I think the ones I bought were
50 Rubber Washers 25.4mm O/D X M6 X 1.4mm
about £4 for 50 I think
