1970 Indicator

Post by adam70 » 31st July 2012 - 5:30pm

Hi,
I've got a 1970 Fastback and after a small electrical fire I've been told that I need a new indicator and the connecting wires that come with it. The only problem is finding one that is suitable. I've attatched a couple of pictures of my one and I can't seem to find one that is the same. Both the 69 and the 70 ones are similar yet not quite perfect.

Custom and commercial have one that goes up to 1969 and is very similar but I'm not sure if this is the right one I know that many of the electrical parts were changed for the 1970's model. http://www.customandcommercial.com/deta ... tegory=449

I've found one which is meant to be for the 1970-71 model however it doesn't quite match as the connection is different- whereas mine is circular this one is not. It also has a spring whereas mine has the top M shaped wire as seen in the pictures above. http://images.thesamba.com/vw/gallery/pix/901397.jpg

So does anyone know which indicator I need? x

I think there was a 1970 one for sale on the forum.

311 953 513C is for 1970 models (Chassis number starts 3102 or 3602), while 513D is for 71 models (chassis number starts 3112 or 3612).
Dave.

I have a complete unit (used) from a 1970 in very good order if you do not find one.
Let me know if you still require and I can take some close ups to determine whether it would work for you - jake

Hi Jake,
If you could take some close up pictures for me that would be great and much appreciated!

I have the complete unit so maybe easy for you to drop in your ignition barrel or remove the switch?
