Main dealer parts!

Post by MikeyB » 6th September 2012 - 5:56pm

As some of you may know I'm in the procces of restoring my 72 Typ3 variant L and being a bit of a stickler for originality I'm trying to use as many genuine parts (new preferably but second hand if cost/unavailability is a problem!)

So I check with my local main dealer first, (I've got an old copy of ETKA for reference) for availability of certain bits, so I thought I'd share with you what I come across and it's part number. Don't expect huge panels and carpet sets but sometimes just sometimes interesting bits are still available from VW UK.

First parts I managed to get from My local main dealer:

N 020 022 3 Plug. This is the small rubber plug on the oil bath air filter

Image
113 198 031 Oil change set of gaskets

Image
251 863 195C Variant opening rear window internal beading! (this was a real surprise! :D )

I've got some more bits on order, I'll let you know what they are when they arrive.

If anyone wants to contribute feel free!

I take it you've realised that you need to be slightly careful about telling the dealer you've got etka!
Look out for the C in a little blue square on certain parts...this indicates that it is available from Classic parts centre in Wolfsburg.( Theoretically, your dealership should be able to order for you,but most are reluctant)
Also worth noting is to check the different country tabs for availability in those countries

Hi Peter,

Yeah, The dealer is quite glad I know the numbers when I go in saves them going through the old diagrams! I didn't know the 'c' meant classic parts, I'll remember that, I've got some bits coming from the Classic Parts Centre, it's an 8 week lead time at the moment!

Could you give me an idea of price for the variant pop out window internal beading please? I thought I'd struggle to find a UK supplier for them, amazed that they are still available from the main dealer.
Thanks.

Couple of other bits, not exclusive to type 3's I suppose but the VW quality will be top notch.

D 003 500 the correct rubberised underseal can also be used as a brushable seam sealer (really good stuff!)

ebay has lots of them - they're all ripped off; some can be updated online. They have the parts illustrations but don't usually have the part numbers for no longer available parts (NLA).
