Hey guys! I'm back for more help! I have a type 4/914 motor in my ghia and its fitted with a 009 and this 32/36 dfav conversion kit http://www.justkampers.com/shop/review/ ... egory/382/ I have this horrible flat spot and I'm not sure of the best path to go down.
I did buy a pair of solex carbs to fit as replacements however they are a 40/44 body and are physically too large to fit in my engine bay so sadly I'm going to have to sell them now
First thing I'm doing is getting a stock exhaust and I'm not sure whether the next best thing would be to find a set of stock twin carbs (if they will fit physically) and dizzy or stick with the progressive and get something like this http://vwparts.aircooled.net/Aircooled- ... n-svda.htm to go with it as recommended here http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=386388 however I can't preheat it as suggested.
anyway any help would be much appreciated

Re: Type 4 Carbs and Distributor combination
I'm not knowledgable, just need to get that out the way......
Barb('73 412ls running 1.8 a/c) is running stock solex twin carbs and a vacum dizzy. She runs beautifully like that and will cruise at a ton quite happily (on my private roads of course). She pulls away and drives through the gears nicely on the above set up

I forgot to mention the exhaust. It's not a stock exhaust. I can't tell you what sort it is, but I can get a pic if it helps?
