Lowered front end - what height to get on rollers for mot

Post by SB Jim » 13th April 2013 - 3:09pm

I have just lowered my 68 Squareback and the front valence is now 110mm off the floor in the middle. Just wondered when I come to mot it, will it hit anything when I drive it onto the rollers to test the brakes during an mot test. Also will the headlights need to be adjusted.

Cheers

Jim

That depends how friendly your MOT tester is!!

The car doesn't strictly have to go on a set of rollers to test the brakes, the tester can use a decelerometer, either an old fashioned pendulum type or the more modern digital ones.

If it does go on the rollers then it will vary from garage to garage, as there rollers all differ. My old golf used to just about go on at one station but i had to take the splitter off for another.

Maybe scope out your local test centers first?
