2 and 3 bolt hinges, what's the story?

Post by leec » 18th September 2013 - 7:41pm

I've found a pair of early NOS doors that I want to fit to me 1964 Notchback.
The seller of the doors is concerned that my notch would have 3 bolt hinges but he is saying his NOS doors are made/set up with 2 bolt hinges?

Can I fit the 3 bolt hinges from my rotten doors to the NOS doors?

notch's have 3 bolts and fast/squares have 2 bolt hinges, no idea why VW did this but if you can get the hinges off then they are interchangeable

Thanks for the reply, so can I place the 3 bolt hinge from the body side of the notch to the nos door?

yes you should be able to, that's what I've read on these forums!
